13.3 Calculation of extrapolated element integration point output directly from Abaqus/Standard

Product: Abaqus/Standard

Benefits: Direct calculation of element integration point and section point output requests at either the element centroid or the element nodes significantly reduces the size of the output database files.

Description: Element integration point and section point output requested at either the element centroid or the element nodes for output to the output database are now calculated by default directly from the Abaqus/Standard analysis. Therefore, there is no need to output integration point and section point values automatically to the output database for use by the postprocessing calculator. This can significantly reduce the size of the output database files.

For a set of performance benchmark models with preselected element output requested at the element centroid, a comparison between the output database file size for an analysis using the postprocessing calculator and an analysis in which the element centroid output was calculated directly from Abaqus/Standard is shown in Table 13–1.

Table 13–1 Output database file size.
