Description: A supplementary vertex-to-surface contact formulation has been added for general contact in Abaqus/Standard. The general contact capability relies on the surface-to-surface contact formulation to resolve most contact interactions and relies on the edge-to-surface and edge-to-edge contact formulations to resolve many contact interactions involving feature edges. Now, general contact can also rely on the vertex-to-surface contact formulation to resist penetrations of convex corners into other surfaces, such as for the cases shown in Figure 10–4.
