Product: Abaqus/Standard
Benefits: The AMS eigensolver now automatically computes participation factors during the natural frequency extraction step; previously, only the Lanczos and subspace iteration eigensolvers computed these factors. In particular, for modal analyses where the AMS eigenmodes are extracted using selective recovery, you can use the participation factors to specify primary base motion loading.
Description: Participation factors are used in modal, steady-state dynamic, and random response analyses where primary base motion is specified. This enhancement allows you to use the high-performance AMS eigensolver for structural and structural-acoustic eigenproblems formulated with coupled or uncoupled eigenmodes to compute participation factors. Participation factors are computed with respect to the global coordinate axes. You can easily compute participation factors with respect to arbitrary coordinate axes using nodal transformation.
