Products: Abaqus/Standard Abaqus/CAE
Benefits: New pore pressure cohesive elements provide transition modeling from a Darcy flow to a Poiseuille flow. These new elements can model fluid-driven crack branching and merging. In addition, you can now assign element types from the cohesive pore pressure family of elements in Abaqus/CAE to perform coupled pore fluid diffusion/stress analyses.
Description: The new COD2D4P, COD3D6P, COD3D8P, and CODAX4P pore pressure cohesive elements are now available to support a transition from Darcy flow to Poiseuille flow. In addition, these elements provide modeling support for fluid-driven fracture branching, the interaction of a fluid-driven fracture joining a dry fracture, the interaction of multiple joining fluid-driven fractures, gravity loading on the fluid, and definition of specific initial values of damage at the material points.
In Abaqus/CAE, you can now assign element types from the COH and COD family of elements.
